NEWS- The Police in Kabale District on saturday registered a single fatal accident that left one person severely injured and another one burnt to ashes at Kyanamira Trading Center along Mbarara – Kabale Highway.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate told journalists that the accident involved a Semi Trailer registration number UAQ 912N/ SSD 351Y Nissan driven by Onyango Geoffrey, a Kenyan by nationality and resident of Eldoret in Kenya.
Maate explained that the truck carrying fuel was from Ntungamo side towards Kabale town, lost control and overturned due to brake failure and caught fire immediately.
The driver was able to run out from the blazing with fire and suffered some injuries, but the tonne man identified as 20 year old Onyango Roggers also a Kenyan national did not make it and remained missing until the fire was put off and his body discovered burnt from within the vehicle.
Maate said that the Police Fire Brigade and Rescue Unit from Kabale responded immediately and put out the fire, before it spread to the neighboring buildings but had burnt about three communication poles and the scene was visited by Traffic Officers led by Kambale Isaac and team, the victim was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital where is admitted for treatment and the accident was registered at Kabale Central Police Station under reference number TAR 95/2024 to help in investigations.
Meanwhile the Police in Rubanda District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 50 year old man identified as Naris Twinamasiko a resident of Rutooma village in Kashenyi Parish in Bubare Subcounty.
Maate said that it is alleged that the deceased was last seen on 23rd October 2024 in the evening hours at his home where he has been staying alone having divorced his wife on Sunday the 20th October 2024 who went to their home in Nshanjare Sub County.
It’s further alleged that when the immediate neighbor of the deceased, Odira Turyashemererwa did not see the deceased for two days, yet the door to his house was open, she got concerned and today morning informed Kabutura Fulgence the brother of the deceased who went and checked, only to find his brother lying on the bed dead.
Kabutura informed other relatives and they reported the matter to Bubare Police Station who also informed Rubanda Central Police Station and a team of Police officers responded to the crime scene and documented it and two stones were exhibited after being recovered at the crime scene and postmortem examination was done at the scene and the body handed over to the relatives for burial and the case was registered at Rubanda Central Police Station under reference number CRB 408/2024 to help in investigations.
