The South Ankole Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nathan Ahimbisibwe, has called on S4 and S6 candidates to remain focused on their studies, avoid risky behaviour, and rely on God as they prepare for the forthcoming national examinations.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe made the appeal during the dedication of S4 and S6 candidates for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations, and a confirmation service for 45 students at Rweikiniro Secondary School in Ruhaama County, Ntungamo District.
Congratulating the candidates for reaching the examination stage, the Bishop noted that many learners who begin Senior One do not progress to candidate classes due to challenges such as lack of school fees, early pregnancies, and indiscipline.
He urged candidates, parents, and teachers to turn to God with sincere hearts, emphasizing that faith and discipline are key to sustained focus and better performance. He also encouraged families and students to look beyond their current circumstances and see education as a pathway to a stronger and more promising future.
“My parents are living in a village city because they see far and educated all 11 children, and it’s our time to return to them,” Bishop Ahimbisibwe said, calling on candidates to value the sacrifices their parents have made to keep them in school.
The Bishop further cautioned students to avoid promiscuity and protect their health, warning them that behaviour which could expose them to HIV/AIDS and other health risks would jeopardize their future.
“Keep off from promiscuity but keep healthy and living because the dead can’t be blessed. So have hope in your life instead of getting HIV/AIDS,” he advised.
In addition, Bishop Ahimbisibwe encouraged candidates to speak positively about themselves and their future, urging them to make good declarations and trust in their abilities. He also commended parents who have taken loans and made other financial sacrifices to support their children’s education, describing those efforts as an investment in the future.
The Bishop was accompanied by the Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Canon Alfred Turyamureeba, the Archdeacon of Ruhaama, the Ven. Rev. John Baryamumpa, and Rev. Canon Jonathan Bwanahooro.
Rweikiniro Secondary School Head Teacher, Kabangizi Gideons, thanked the Bishop for his continued support and commitment to the school. Kabangizi also appreciated parents for both financial and moral support toward the institution’s development.
Rweikiniro Secondary School currently has 469 learners, including 152 S4 candidates and 25 S6 candidates preparing for their respective national examinations.
According to the examination calendar shared during the event, the 2026 UNEB examination series will begin with a briefing for UCE candidates on Thursday, October 8. The Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) are scheduled to start on Friday, October 30, while UACE examinations are set to begin in November.
Candidates were urged to enter the final stage of preparation with discipline, focus, and hope.
