NEWS– The Executive Director of Butabika Hospital Dr Juliet Nakku has requested for an urgent funding of Ugx 7.2 billion to complete the hospital’s perimeter fence and provide proper nourishment for their patients.

While appearing before the Parliament’s Health Committee today, Dr Nakku said that with a pressing requirement, the hospital seeks to fence off its premises and ensure the provision of adequate and nutritious meals for its patients.

She said that this appeal highlights the critical importance of additional funding to sustain and improve the quality of care offered by Butabika Hospital and informed the Members of Parliament that these essential projects must be completed as soon as possible to ensure the safety and well-being of both patients and staff.

At Butabika Hospital, a current total of 313,000 patients receive meals annually, encompassing breakfast, lunch, and dinner at an average cost of Ugx 6,187 per patient calculated across the three meals, but the ideal cost to adequately feed each patient should be Ugx 15,000 per day.

Dr Nakku however, informed the lawmakers that addressing this shortfall in funding is imperative to ensure that patients receive the necessary nourishment vital for their health and recuperation.
