NEWS– The Police in Kabale District have arrested a 45 year old man identified as Samantha Muyeghe allegedly for having carnal knowledge with a 13 year old girl, a pupil at Kamironko child Development Center.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that the suspect is a Tailoring Instructor at the same Child Development Center and resident of Nyakahita village in Kigata Parish in Kyanamira Subcounty in Kabale district.
It’s alleged that on the 7th August 2024 in the evening hours, the suspect found the victim on her way home waiting for her younger sister and told her to accompany him up to the river which she refused.
It alleged that the suspect grabbed her basket and ran away and she also followed him pleading to return the basket to her until when he saw the victim’s sister coming that he gave back the basket and went away.
The following day during break time, the suspect saw the victim in school compound and lured her to the church gallery that he was going to repair her torn uniform, gave her Ugx 2000, pulled her up and removed her nicker, forced her into sexual intercourse within Kamironko church gallery.
After the act, he pretended to be communicating on his mobile phone leaving the victim to put on her nicker, after which she moved out of the church running and when she was asked where she had gone, she revealed everything to her parents.
The father of the victim reported the case at Maziba Police Station and the suspect was accordingly arrested and is now detained at Kabale Central Police Station awaiting trial and the case of aggravated defilement was registered under reference number CRB:605/2024.
