NEWS- The Police Detectives from Criminal Investigations Directorate-CID have driven the three detained MPs to their homes for a thorough house search as investigations take on in their alleged corruption scandals.
The three legislators include Cissy Namujju the Lwengo Woman MP, Bunyole West MP Yusuf Mutembuli and Busiki County MP Paul Akamba who spent the night at Kira-Division Police in Wakiso district.
Their arrest came just days after President Museveni revealed a racket of officials at the finance ministry who colluded with other government agencies through Parliament to include their shares in the budgets of the past years.
“I have been hearing that from the Ministry of Finance, they collude with the accounting officers of the Ministries to come to parliament working with some people there to provide certain funds, provided you take a share. I didn’t believe this but now I have proof” Museveni said on Thursday.
The three have been driven by a squad of armed police and detectives in a convoy of four minibuses to their homes on the Entebbe Road, Mukono and Naalya respectively for a thorough house search.
The move is part of the wider investigations into acts of corruption by the alleged legislators. One of the close friends to the detainees, James Waluswata, the former MP of Bunyore East, who was found at Kira Division, said the MPs will be produced to courts once there is a case to answer.
“I have seen my friends and they are okay. The officers were in a meeting so I have not spoken to any of them about charges, but what I am sure about is that they will be produced in courts to answer if there is a case to answer, and once they are found innocent they will be released to go” Waluswata has told Journalists outside the Kira-Division Police.
Sources in security after investigations the detained MPs will appear before the Anti-Corruption court on Wednesday for trail, it is also suspected that more officials will be invited to record statements.
