Miss Tourism Rwenzori

NEWS- Ms Fortunate Muhindo, a 22 year –old student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Law, was on Friday night crowned the Miss Tourism Rwenzori 2024/25 at the event’s grand finale that held at Uhuru 50 Gardens in Kasese town.

The event, which is majorly part of the maiden Rwenzori Theluji Festival, an annual tourism event with climax slated for August 24 for this year in Kasese town, is always attended and followed by the elite youths.

Queen Fortunate Muhindo was crowned the next Miss Tourism Rwenzori after beating her fellow contestants in stage presentation, confidence, intelligence, and speak and diction.

The same function also saw Shivon Muganda, a 22 – year –old student pursuing a Diploma in Clinical Medicine at Kampala International University crowned as the 1st runner’s up.

While Beatrice Masika Byakutaga a 22 -year- old pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Law at Uganda Pentecostal University became the second runner’s up and crowned Miss Popularity.

Gloria Kabugho Musimenta a 20 –year -old student of Fisheries Management and Technologies at the Fisheries Institute was crowned Miss Talent and Ronah Nakia a 22 year-old student pursuing a bachelor’s degree of Arts in Social Sciences at Makerere University was crowned Conservation Queen.

Others included Immaculate Patience, a 21- year -old student pursuing a course in enrolled Nursing at Kagando School of Nursing and Midwifery who was crowned Heritage Queen.

Miss Tourism Rwenzori is an Annual Regional Pageant (show) that seeks to give human face to Rwenzori sub-region’s tourism strengths through pageantry by engaging talented young ladies to unveil a passion for promoting their region both locally and internationally.

During her presentation, the Crowned Miss Tourism Rwenzori, Fortunate Muhindo, said that she contested for the position because of her commitment to environmental conservation and preserving the Rwenzori culture and its beauty.

Speaking to the press shortly after the event, Queen Doreen Biira, the Brand Ambassador for Miss Tourism Rwenzori said that the Crowned Queen and the two runner’s up winners will represent Rwenzori sub-region at the national level in Kampala for Miss Tourism Uganda.

It should be noted that Queen Sarah Kenyana was crowned Miss Tourism Rwenzori for 2022/23 while Queen Bridget Kunihira was crowned for the position for the year 2023/24.

However a larger population of Rwenzori sub-region and Kasese district in particular are still asking for the significance of the Miss Tourism Rwenzori for the last two years as far as promoting Tourism in the Rwenzori is concerned.
