The National Resistance Movement Party Presidential Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has proposed the grant of lease tenure to occupants of the bare forest land reserve in Nakaseke district for at least 49 years as they plant trees and fast track reforestation.
The proposal followed a call for grant of free titles to occupants of the land in the question from leaders of Nakaseke District to which the President a guided as worthy of lease holding.
President Museveni made the proposal today while campaigning at a massive rally at Butalangu Playgrounds in Nakaseke District where he also promised to fast track the land compensation for absentee landlords, address counterfeit drugs for livestock on the market, address veterans affairs in District and avail new road construction equipment for the district.
President Museveni also advised cattle farmers in Nakaseke District and the entire cattle corridor to embrace modern efficient diary farming and land utilisation practices to boost their farm yields and end nomadism and noted that the average land holding for farmers in the District is large enough to accommodate high value milk producing cattle that require lesser pieces of land.
He demonstrated success stories of high milk producing farms on small acreage that include Joseph Ijara from Serere District and Mzee Nayakana from Kabarole among others to emulate and explained how small scale land owners can harness wealth from diary cattle rearing.
The President made it categorically clear that Nakaseke District is earmarked to have additional tarmac roads planned to further ease mobility of goods and services in the area which include the extension of Kampala – Luwero – Butalangu tarmac road nearing its completion to Ngoma and Masindi District, Butalangu – Kapeeka – Nakwaya – Bukomero road – completion of reconstruction works for Matuga – Ssemuto – Kapeeka road that is nearing its completion
He said that all the roads are intended to supplement on the already established tarmac roads at Kampala – Luwero – Gulu highway and Kampala Busunju – Hoima – Buliisa Highway that crosses through districts in the cattle corridor.
President Museveni tasked the electorate of Nakaseke District to continue supporting the NRM’s prioritization approach to socioeconomic development that has delivered tremendously on different score cards in their district.
He cited the prevailing peace and stability initiated by the NRM government throough it’s prioritization approach on which the current development strides are anchored and underscored the NRM government’s landmark achievements in education, health, electricity and water distribution initiatives across the District that indicate great success across board.

The First lady Maama Jannet Kataha Museveni who is also the Minister for Education and Sports rallied the people of Nakaseke District to protect the gains made to their area by the NRM government including the sustainable peace, unity and development witnessed in their district by re-electing the NRM presidential candidate General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and all NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming general elections.
The former Minister for Finance Planning and Economic Development and NRM elder in Nakaseke District Hajjati Saida Bbumba challenged the electorate of Nakaseke District to reflect on the unprecedented transformation of their area and Livelihoods under the NRM government and re-elect the General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and all NRM flag bearers for continuity of development and socioeconomic transformation
Buganda Sub-region Vice Chairperson Hon Haruna Kasolo rallied for unity and block voting for NRM throughout while the NRM Deputy Secretary Hon General Rose Namayanja highlighted several development initiatives in Nakaseke District fostered by the NRM government upon which she seeks his re-election and all NRM flag bearers in the next election.
