NEWS- Gudie Leisure Farm (GLF), a social enterprise providing various agribusiness development services to youth-owned micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the agricultural sector, is hunting for 320 Million Shillings to buy feed mill machines to enable youth in Rubanda district add value on their products.
The Founder and Managing Director of GLF, Prof Gudula Naiga Basaza, told our reporter today that there are over 12,000 youth from 16 parishes in Rubanda district under their project who are selling law materials yet they have the potential and capacity to add value on their products to make animal feeds.
Prof Basaza said that they have launched a fundraising drive to buy feed mill machines to enable the youth process their own animal feeds instead of buying them at a high price.
She said that most of the youth are employed in agriculture but have not yet exploited their full potential, and called for increased investment in the form of advanced technology into the sector to improve their youths’ productivity.
The Rubanda District Gudie Leisure Farm Pela Chairperson, Bright Kato, said currently there is no feed mill machine in the district, adding that they currently move to the neighboring districts to get animal feeds which he said is time consuming and costly.
