NEWS– His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu, The Most Rt Rev Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, M.C.C.J of the Combonian Missionary of the Heart of Jesus who has been the Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese.
This comes after the Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the Pastoral Care of the Archdiocese of Gulu presented by Archbishop John Baptist Odama, for reching the age limit, according to Can 401 (1 ) of the Code of Canon Law.
His Grace John Baptist Odama, Archbishop Emeritus of Gulu, has been appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Gulu until the day of the canonical possession by the new Archbishop.
The Apostolic Nunciature congratulate the new Archbishop Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, M.C.C.J and invokes abundant blessings upon his pastoral ministry in that local Church.
The Apostolic Nunciature expresses its gratitute to His Grace Jon Baptist Odama for his generous sservice during twenty-five years as the first Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu from 1999-2024 and before as the first Bishop of the Diocese of Nebbi.
The Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, Archbishop Luigi Bianco thanked God for this gift and entrusting the ministry of the new Archbishop to him and said that will avail myself of the opportunity to wish you a grace-filled celebration of the imminent Easter festivities.
