Nepal Police search the remains of the wreckage of the helicopter that crashed Nuwakot killing 5 people on board

NEWS- A helicopter crash in the Nepal mountains northwest of Kathmandu today afternoon resulted in the deaths of five people, including four Chinese tourists.

Nepali Police have confirmed the crash and disclosed that they have found five bodies at the crash site in Shivapuri Rural Municipality in Nuwakot.

Its reported that the Nepal-based Air Dynasty helicopter, registration 9N-AJD, was flying from Kathmandu to Rasuwa and was heading to Syaphrubensi at the time the crash happened.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) said that a Prabhu helicopter (9N-ANL) was sent to the crash site right after the accident to rescue survivors found that all the five people on board including four Chinese tourists had died.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal disclosed that the helicopter lost communication with the control tower three minutes after leaving Tribhuvan International Airport.

The Police reported that the remains of the Pilot, Arun Malla and that of two men and one woman had been found at the site of the crash and one body remains unidentified due to severe burns.

The Nuwakot’s District Police Commander Shantiraj Koirala stated that the remains of five victims had been found at the crash scene which comes just weeks after a Saurya Airlines plane crash claimed 18 lives at the Tribhuvan International Airport on July 24th 2024.

Everyone on the Saurya Airlines flight was Nepali, except for one passenger from Yemen, including the co-pilot and the government has launched an investigation into the crash of the Bombardier CRJ 200, which was en route to Pokhara, Nepal’s second-largest city, for maintenance and according to airport officials, the majority of the passengers were either mechanics or airline staff.
