BUSHENYI– The former Igara East Constituency Parliamentary candidate has rubbished claims that he joined National Resistance Movement (NRM Party) after losing the 2021 general election.
Amanya Andrew commonly known as Ekyeyerezo who joined the Forum for Democratic Change in 2017 had contested in 2021 general elections before losing to NRM’s Hon Micheal Mawanda Maranga who was also the incumbent. Other contestants were Dan Mugura Karukiiko, Fabiano Gakyaro, Andrew Martial, Modern and Joshua.
Now, Amanya Andrew born and raised in Kyamutiganzi B, Kyabugimbi in Igara East, Bushenyi district says he has not joined NRM as some people claim and even confirmed that he is coming back in 2026 on FDC ticket.
His words just come after a story was ran on one of the media houses and at the end they claimed that he accepted to join NRM which he says its totally wrong and distances himself from it.
“I had just gone there to see the road that was being rehabilitated”, he claims.
It all began when Hon Annet Mugisha (Bushenyi district Woman MP) and Jaffari Basajjabalaba (Bushenyi district LC5 Chairperson) had joined residents who were rehabilitating Omukarere – Bukorijo Church of Uganda and Amanya Andrew also joined them as an individual to do the community work.
Amanya says although he made a speech as a citizen who loves development but did not mention crossing from FDC to NRM and wants those who spread that message to apologise to him since what they said is baseless and defamates his reputation as an FDC die-hard.
