Kigezi Region Police PRO ASP Elly Maate

The Police in Kabale registered a fatal road crash that claimed life of a 24 year old man identified as Twesigye Lawrene a boda boda rider and resident of Kyobugombe village in Kabale District.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman said that the accident took place last night March 18th at Kyobugombe along Kabale – Mbarara highway and involved Motor Vehicle registration number UAQ 407L Isuzu bus belonging to Abapakasi Coaches whose driver fled the scene and unknown motorcycle which was removed from the scene and hidden by unknown people.

Maate explained that the bus was from Kabale side heading to Kampala along Kabale – Mbarara road, and Motorcycle was from Mbarara side heading to Kabale and upon reaching Kyobugombe, the rider made an abrupt turn from his left hand side to the right hand side of the bus which was already nearer to him and he was knocked dead on spot.

Maate told journalists today morning that the scene of accident was visited and documented by Traffic Officer  Mugabo Christopher and the body if the deceased was conveyed to Kabale Regional Refferal Hospital Mortuary  for postmortem examination.

The bus was also intercepted and driven and is now parked at Central Police Station in Kabale Yard pending  inspection by Inspector of Vehicles as investigations continue.
