NEWS- The Kabale district Woman Member of Parliament Hon Catherine Ndamira Atwakiire has expressed concern over the rampant cases of domestic violence in Uganda and called upon married couples to be tolerant to each other.

Hon Atwakiire’s message was contained in her speech that was delivered today by her Political Asistant Alex Akampurira during the Mass held at St Peter’s Kacuro Catholic Centre under Rushoroza Cathedral Parish within Bugarama in Buhara sub county Kabale District.

During the Mass presided over by the Assistant Parish Priest of Our Lady of Good shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral Parish, Rev Fr Frederick Rutinaki 3 couples received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony and 12 Christians to receive the Sacrament of Baptism.

Hon Atwakiire Ndamira observed that increased domestic violence has retarded development in most families, since the unmarried couples cannot plan for their families together and therefore this action by couples getting married in church reduces such violence. While delivering the sermon Rev Fr Rutinaki Frederick decried the excessive consumption of alcohol in Kabale District which has accelerated the low household income and called upon the newly married to work together developed their homes.
