NEWS– The Police in Kisoro District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an 18-year-old woman identified as Denise Ntezimana a resident of Gikoro village in Chihe Parish in Nyakinama Sub- County.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the incident and said that the deceased was allegedly assaulted by her husband, Brian Irakiza of the same address and died instantly.
Maate said that the incident took place yesterday and the deceased has been married to the suspect for for only one month and was working in a bar as a bar maid and that’s where they met and got married.
Maate explained that the two have been living together as a married couple and yesterday the woman refused to cook for the husband, which angered him and the fight between the two ensued that resulted in her death.
Maate said that the report was made by the LC 1 Chairman John Nzabanita and the scene of crime was visited, processed and documented and statements were recorded from some of the witnesses and the body conveyed to Kisoro General Hospital Mortuary for the postmortem examination and the suspect was arrested to assist in investigations.
