NEWS- The Kigezi Region MK Movement Chairperson Ambrose Kibuuka has tipped the people of Rukiga district to utilize the opportunity they have in Dr. Sylvia Arinatwe Mwanaki to lobby for development in their area.

Kibuuka was addressing thousands of MK movement supporters who turned up the pre-event party that was organized in Rukiga district as the region waited to host the national MK movement boss Muhoozi Kainerugaaba, the main function that was held in Kanungu on 24th November 2023.

Kibuuka told a mammoth crowd that Dr. Sylvia Arinatwe has already exhibited potential of working for people irrespective of their religion or political affiliation especially in fields to do with education, health among others.

According to Kibuuka, Dr Arinaitwe is very key and Instrumental in the current ruling government and she will be in the forthcoming one hence challenging people to welcome and support all her initiatives so that they can enjoy the development they deserve.

Dr. Sylvia Arinaitwe Mwanaki, the Deputy National Water and Sewerage Corporation boss who was the Chiefguset at the pre-event function asked Ugandans to embrace love for God, patriotism and togetherness all which will foster development under the National Resistance Movement and MK Movement.

Dr. Arinaitwe told the congregation that she has so far done a lot in ensuring that people in the area get access to clean and safe water, invested in health as well as in education whereby she has been pivotal in donating essential scholastic materials for the learners.

“Those that have already accessed clean and safe water, better health service at a low cost, as well as scholastic materials to the learners, just know that it’s just the start. Support NRM, MK movement, you will never regret and development will be a guarantee in our district” said Dr. Arinaitwe Sylvia.

During the main function in Kanungu district, General Kare Kaihura, the former Inspector of Police, advised the MK movement to focus on strategizing Gen. Muhoozi Kaineruga by highlighting his achievements and capabilities to Ugandans, rather than seeking votes at this stage. 

Representing Gen. Muhoozi Kaineruga, the first son of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Kare shared this message during the launch of the MK movement in Kigezi Region, a function held Kanungu District.

As the guest of honor at the event, Gen Kare K emphasized that, given the opportunity to be the MK advisor; he would effectively promote Kaineruga to the Ugandan people. 

He highlighted Kaineruga’s strengths, including his role as a commander in the fight against the ADF and his success in resolving the Uganda-Rwanda peace talks swiftly.

Kaihura acknowledged that MK is a strong, intelligent, and hardworking individual, expressing concern that many Ugandans are unaware of his capabilities. 

He stressed the importance of introducing Kaineruga to the public, awaiting the right time for him to be accepted as a leader for the country.

Reflecting on personal challenges and prison life, Kaihura mentioned that only MK and Gen. Salim Saleh believed in his innocence and visited him. He assured Eng. Sam Kajojo that his memorandum would reach Gen. Kaineruga, emphasizing that he is not a politician but committed to concrete actions.

Eng. Sam Kajojo’s concerns, focusing on poor tourism infrastructure and declining tea prices affecting the Kigezi region, were addressed by Kaihura, who pledged to bring these issues to the attention of responsible officers. Despite not being a tea farmer himself, Kaihura expressed concern for his people in Kisoro who are affected by these challenges.

Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, MP Kinkiizi East, and Minister for ICT, welcomed the challenges presented by District Chairperson Eng. Sam Kajojo. Collaborating with Woman MP Kinshaba Patience Nkunda, Dr. Chris pledged to address these challenges in Parliament and Cabinet meetings.

Dr. Chris promised Cabinet consideration for the issue of tea price decline, with plans to allocate funds for fertilizer and set prices for factories to purchase tea green leaf. Additionally, plans were outlined for road improvements, including the Kabale road, Rugyeyo-Nyakishenyi, and Kanyantoro-Bwindi.

Chris clarified his involvement with MK, emphasizing that he and President Museveni share the same voice, while reaffirming Museveni’s presence on the ballot paper.

Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, the Rukungiri Member of Parliament, welcomed the MK team and appreciated the turnout.

 Barugahare and Ambrose Kibuuke pledged to request Kaineruga to construct a playground for Kigezi region in Kanungu at Kanungu playground.

Hon. Patience Nkunda, the Woman MP Kanungu district, commended Eng. Sam Kajojo for organizing the MK movement and expressed gratitude to President Museveni for granting freedom of movement to Kare Kaihura. She affirmed loyalty to Museveni as the current president but indicated openness to welcoming MK when the time comes.

Eng. Sam Arinaitwe Kajojo, the District Chairperson, welcomed everyone, presenting the district memo outlining pressing needs for Kanungu and Kigezi. Sam highlighted Kigezi’s tourism potential, urging the government to establish a tourism training institute. He addressed issues such as human-wildlife conflicts, compensation, and the need for an electric fence at Queen Elizabeth.

Sam emphasized challenges faced by Kigezi, including electricity outages for green tea processing factories, and appealed to the government for support in various areas such as coffee seedlings, fertilizer, tourism road improvements, and security on border areas.
