NEWS- Kisoro Primary Teachers College is set to undergo a significant transformation, becoming an independent health institute under the ownership of the Ministry of Education and Sports.
The announcement was made by Abel Bizimana, the Kisoro District boss during a council meeting held at the Kisoro District Hall.
During the meeting, Bizimana revealed that there was a previous assumption that Kabale University would utilize the facility to train individuals in the health sector due to the university’s reputed and qualified staff. However, a directive from the Ministry of Education has now designated all primary teachers’ colleges, particularly those focusing on training grade III teachers, to function as health institutes nationwide.
In elaborating on this development, Bizimana emphasized that Kisoro Primary Teachers College will play a crucial role as a health institute, dedicated to the training of health workers. This decision aligns with the broader national strategy set forth by the Ministry of Education.
The communication from Abel Bizimana follows a query raised by Agaba James, the LC5 Councilor for the Southern Division who sought a comprehensive report from the council regarding the current status of Kisoro Primary Teachers College, questioning why it remains inactive despite being situated in Kisoro Municipality.
The shift towards utilizing the college as a health institute signals a new chapter for the institution and aligns with the evolving needs and priorities within the education and health sectors.
