BUSHENYI– Landlords and employers have been tasked to always register their workers and new tenants with Local Coucils if they want stability in their communities.
This was sounded by Ishaka Division chairperson Mr Mukyenga Deus while chairing a security meeting in Ryansana 1, Kashenyi ward, Ishaka Division, Bushenyi – Ishaka Municipality on Tuesday 12th December 2023.
The meeting that was held in Katakondwa trading centre comes few days before Christmas day, a season where crime rate is at an increase in the area and Kashenyi ward at large.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chairman Mukyenga revealed that if new members in the community are not registered and known by authorities, they might turn into criminals who may use it as an advantage to commit crimes and in the end disappear because no one can be asked about their whereabouts.
“Register people, get photocopies of their national Identification cards, know where they come from because these strangers have turned into a threat to the society, if you don’t do that, you will always cry because we cannot trace someone we don’t know”, Chairman Mukyenga Said.
He further warned residents against buying already used items without getting their receipts and making agreements arguing that such items have always caused problems to people and many buyers have ended in prisons since they buy without following the right procedures.
