NATIONAL– The Mitooma District Woman Member of Parliament Hon Agasha Juliet Bashisha has strongly advised men to support their wives on family development activities. The Member of Parliament says most families would be in a better status now but have failed to achieve it since most men have left responsibilities to women.
While traversing through Ruhinda North constituency in Mobilization for NRM Yellow book update and registration set for this week, Bashisha who was in company of her boss, the Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayeebwa (NRM Chairman Ruhinda North) maintained her message that if men can support their wives, families can now become like the garden of Eden in this peaceful NRM government.
Her words were received positively by women who on the same day told this website that some men even do not buy salt at home or pay fees for their children but only spend their time on other yet to be established projects.

Rt Hon Speaker Thomas Tayeebwa who had now come as Ruhinda North NRM Chairperson thanked people for supporting NRM and vowed to keep supporting development in Mitooma district. He donated 50 hospital beds to health centres in Ruhinda North and pledged to organize educational workshops to different categories of people especially farmers so that development takes shape in Uganda.
Tayebwa asked Ugandans to use the chance of government poverty eradication Initiatives to improve on their daily standards of living.
“We are in a country where our president loves us so much and he has brought programs that can help everyone, apart from that we are bringing services everywhere in education sector, health sector, infrastructure to mention but a few so use them well as a Ugandan, we even have peace because if you ask people who were in Uganda since 1962 when just in 24 years Uganda changed presidents 9 times you can get surprised”, Hon Thomas Tayeebwa explained.
Furthermore, he advised Ugandans to always embrace development programs though sometimes they come with challenges like in his words he said” we must turn this Bitereko into a city so i will not allow these fake buildings, we must have a plan and some will not be happy with it but we must do the best for our society”. He thanked people for loving and supporting NRM arguing that if NRM is still in power every Ugandan will benefit.
On Sunday, the team taught registrars, NRM Chairpersons, village teams on how to register people and by press time they had covered Kigyende, Kanyabwanga and Bitereko sub – counties respectively.
The Mitooma NRM Administrative Secretary Julius Kagina was the lecturer of the day and he taught registrars and other stakeholders on how to update yellow book in their respective villages. In Bitereko Sub County with 48 villages and 5 parishes, all authorities were restricted not to force anyone to join NRM but rather register only willing Ugandans who are 18 years and above.
He tasked all NRM Members to turn up starting 13th to 17th March 2024 and update their yellow book details so that the party can prepare well for the coming general election.
Muhwezi Saverino, the NRM Chairman Bitereko sub – county thanked Hon Thomas Tayeebwa for facilitating party activities in the constituency and warned registrars against working alone by influence of bribes.
He was quoted by our reporter saying “don’t get Ugx 2000 and register someone who died 4 years ago or rub someone from the yellow book and indicate that he died, please work with your team and other village members”.
