NEWS- A 7 year old pupil has been struck dead by lightning (thunder) in Bushenyi district.
The deceased is Twinomugisha Paul aged 7 who has been a pupil at Nyarutuntu Primary School in Nyabubare sub – county Bushenyi district.
Lightning thunder also injured 3 pupils namely: Twinomujuni Brighton 14 years, Arineitwe Denis 5 years and Ampuriire Rajab 4 years all of Nyarutuntu Primary School.
It’s reported that on Wednesday 28th at around 5pm, one teacher known as Tumuhairwe Annet called Muhereza Elifa who is the chairman PTA (reporter) seeking for immediate help as they wanted a vehicle to rush pupils who had been struck by lightning to hospital and the reporter responded immediately.
The 4 pupils who were struck by lightning were immediately rushed to KIU teaching Hospital where Twinomugisha Paul was pronounced dead after being put on oxygen. The other three survived and are still receiving treatment.
The incident was registered under Nyabubare police post SD REF 07/28/02/24, statements of some witnesses obtained and the body of the deceased taken to KIU Teaching hospital mortuary for postmortem.
It was established that at the time of the incident, it was drizzling and the pupils were outside classrooms for co – curriculum activities.
The Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson person SSP Martial Tumusiime confirmed this sad incident to our reporter adding that inquiries into the matter are still at hand.
