KIBAALE- The Minister of Finance, Matia Kasaija who is also Buyanja County Member of Parliament joined other leaders of Kibaale district in a joint exercise in which they launched the construction works of various roads of about 60Km worth over Ugx 2.7 billion across the district.
The leaders on Monday February 12, launched the extended emergency periodic maintenance of 5 community access roads including a 9.6Km Kisega- Kasambya-Buhumi- Kikaada road at a tune of over Ugx 438 million and a 12Km Kabasekende-Ngerebwe- Kaihamaino- Bakijurura- Rwamagando- Ruboona road worth over Ugx 641 million both contracted by MUGA Services LTD.
Minister Kasaija also joined the district team led by the District Chairperson, Godfrey Muwonge Kasanga to launch the extended periodic maintenance of the 8Km Nyamarunda- Nyanswiiga- Kahaara- Mbirizi- Kyanyi road contracted by AZU Properties LTD at a tune of over Ugx 316 million with the contract period of 6 months.
Another team led by Buyanja East MP, Dr. Emely Kugonza together with the Kibaale RDC Godwin Angalia Kasigwa launched the construction works of the 14Km Kaisekenkere- Kajuma- Wantema- Kayanja road at a tune of over Ugx 626 million contracted by TRESSMARK UG LTD and the Kitoma- Kakindo- Rusandara- Mitujju road at a tune of over Ugx 600 Million contracted by AZU Properties LTD.
Officiating as the chief guest at different launching venues, Minister Kasaija urged constituents to utilize the constructed roads to transport agricultural produce to local markets and also engage in commercial farming to increase production to have food for their families and surplus for sale.
He however warned against using the well-constructed roads recklessly by over speeding which will cause road accidents leading to death.
In his remarks, John Katotoroma the Kibaale Chief Administrative Officer commended Minister Kasaija for his visionary leadership that has resulted in the constant lobbying of such a huge amounts of money for the construction of the 5 roads which he has been doing even in the past.
Joseph Semyaro, the project manager of Kabasekende- Ngerebwe- Kaihamaino- Kyakijurura- Rwamagando- Ruboona road and Kisega- Kasambya- Buhumi- Kikaada road told residents in the beneficiary communities not to expect any compensation, asking for their cooperation to realize success of the projects.
Semyaro committed to delivering quality work, thanking the community for being cooperative.
Beneficiary residents could not hide their excitement upon witnessing the launch of the construction works. They said the poor roads have been affecting the transportation of their agricultural products, and movement of children to schools among others.
