NEWS– The Police in Kabale District are investigating circumstances under which two an unidentified male adults were lynched to death at Kaliba village in Kaharo Subcounty.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident and said that it is alleged that, in the night of 25th September 2024, three persons stole a motorcycle at Kabaraga from a motor vehicle in motion and they waited for the means of transportation with their stolen property up to evening when the local people became suspecious.
It is reported that when the local people tried to interview them, they failed to account for their being in Kabaraga and could not explain about the property they were in possession and they opted to run away, but the locals got two of them from Kaliba village and beat them to death.
The Police at Kaharo Police Station upon receiving the information, registered the case of murder by mob and immediately informed the District CID officer Kabale who responded to the scene with Kabale homicide team and the district Scene of Crime Official and the two bodies were retrieved from the scene and taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Maate has since warned the people from stealing from trucks in motion because they risk being dealt with in accordance with the law, but appealed to person missing their relatives to go to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary so that they can identify the dead and be and taken for a decent burial and the case of murder was registered under reference number CRB 723/2024 to help in investigations.
