Minister Jim Muhwezi at Nyakibale Deanery

RUKUNGIRI- The Minister of Security who doubles as the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Hon Jim Muhwezi Katugugu has lauded the church for supplementing government wealth creation programs.

Minister Muhwezi who was the Chiefguest at the Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund- BAAF 2024 Rukungiri Chapter hailed the Bishop of Kabale Diocese Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira for such a vision that has fostered development not only for the Catholic Church, but Kigezi Region as a whole.

The Minister contributed Ugx 10M towards the initiative and Ugx 2M for the Bishop’s fuel not forgetting the Ugx 3M that was used to prepare lunch for the believers on the day.

“For us as government, we have made a stride in ensuring that Ugandans get equitable education, but this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the Church” said Minister Muhwezi.

Minister Muhwezi also delivered a Ugx 2,000,000 contribution from the Rukungiri District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata, whom he said was abroad on official duties.

On the same day, believers in Christ have been asked to give to others if God has to give back to them stressing that the measure they use for others is the one God will use for them.

The sermon from Luke 6:38 was delivered by Rev. Fr. John Fisher the parish Priest Rutooma Parish during a mass at the Bishop Annual Appeal Fund Rukungiri chapter 2024 held on 9th October 2024 at Nyakibale Deanery grounds in Eastern division Rukungiri municipality.

The main celebrant who also doubles as the Bishop of Kabale Diocese Our Lord Bishop Callist Rubaramira thanked all the attendees for job well find en promised public accountability of the raised funds.

Rubaramira was appreciative to the Government for creating an environment that has favored the smooth Church activities all that would have been impossible if the Country’s security wasn’t conducive.

He hailed Minister Muhwezi for the support and used the same time to invite all the believers to join in for the Climax of BAAF 2024 at Rushoroza hill in Kabale Municipality on January 11th 2025.

The Guest of Honor Hon. Ernest Katara Ngabirano, the Senior manager in charge of administration at National water and Sewerage cooperation who urged people to desist from 3Cs that is comparing, competing and complaining which he said are equal to jealous and aim at developmental issues.

During the function, a total of Ugx 293,323400 was collected with Nyakibale parish coming in the first position as per the parish performance evaluation.

The BAAF 2024 chapter aims at raising Ugx 1.5Bn to focus on completing the unfinished BAAF building located in the heart of Kabale town adjacent to KADIO motel.

The BAAF 2024 drive continues to different districts with 17th November heading to Kabale, 23rd November to Rubanda, 1st December to Kampala and then will be concluded on 11th January 2025.

The function saw a number of people contribute towards the cause. Among them is the Aspiring Rubabo County Legislator Mujuni Lawrence Mpitsi who supported each Parish in Rubabo County with Ugx 500,000 in addition to another Ugx 500,000 towards the Bishop’s fuel.

According to the performance of Rukungiri Catholic Parishes in BAAF 2024, Nyakibale became first, followed by Christ the king, Rutooma, Ndama, Buyanja, Rwamagaya, Rwengyiri, Nyakishenyi and finally Nyarushanje Parish and Nyakibale was declared winner of BAAF 2024 in Rukungiri district.
