TEAM OGWANG EDUCATING GROUP MEMBERS ON ECONOMIC SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION

NEWS- The Chairperson of St Immaculate women’s saving group –Asingei in Akoboi sub-county Ms. Jessica Catherine Opus has applauded the State Minister for education and sports Hon. Peter Ogwang for his remarkable impact on empowering the lives of women through supporting successful saving groups in his constituency.

Opus revealed this while receiving a two million shillings’ financial boost from the Ngariam county MP where over seventy VSLA’S group members had gathered to divide their savings which they saved for long.

While receiving the financial support, the members expressed their gratitude to their area legislator, for giving ten (10) goats to ten families in their village which eventually multiplied to over six cows.

They additionally said, “through Ogwang’s support, each family has managed to have all what’s required of a home like; mattresses, plates, saucepans and others”.

The area Councillor for Okokoma Emanuel Otoke and Asha Akiteng a council for Katakwi town council and other local leaders stated the importance of having serious leaders who deliver following the public demands.

“these women got these goats because of us, good leaders, now they are kept well and multiplied to Cows, I thank the able leadership of Ogwang” Otoke Emmanuel said.

Hon. Jorem Obukui, the area LC3 for Akoboi urged the public to continue being in saving groups saying, the team is moving all-over the county to assess the progress of Ogwang’s saving groups so that money will be added to the performing ones.

“Leaders are chosen by God, and that’s why Minister Ogwang is here doing a tremendous God’s work” Obukui noted.

Meanwhile, Joseph Okwakol the representative of the Ngariam county MP said, the government is committed to solve people’s problems but urged the members of the public to be organized.

Okwakol said that Ogwang has demonstrated maturity in leadership and also showed people that even marginalized communities can be improved when their leader speaks and lobbies for them.

Recently Minister Ogwang injected seven hundred million shillings (771M) as his personal initiative to the people of Ngariam county as part of empowering more than 257VSLA’s comprising of beyond seven thousand members saving in different groups.

The move had enabled different categories of women led groups to access loans cheaply amongst themselves, fostering financial inclusion and economic growth in the community.
