NEWS– Twenty-one officers representing various Police regions and specialized units completed a comprehensive two-day training program for Gender Focal Point Officers, organized by the Department of Women Affairs on December 1, 2023, at the Police headquarters in Naguru.
The objective of the training was to equip officers with crucial gender-sensitive skills and enhance their understanding of gender-related issues, enabling them to effectively address concerns and promote gender equality within their respective units.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Akoth Carolyne, Head of the Women Affairs Department, explained the important role of professionalism and discipline in handling gender matters within police stations during the training.
ACP Carolyne encouraged the officers to maximize available resources and opportunities for carrying out impactful gender-related activities. She also reminded them the importance of sharing the acquired knowledge with fellow officers in different workplaces, fostering a culture of gender equality throughout the force.
This training represents a significant stride toward building a more gender-sensitive and informed police force, reflecting the commitment of the UPF to address and promote gender equality within its ranks.
