MITOOMA- Furious mourners are still cursing politicians who always go to burial functions and turn them into political campaigns.
The mourners were left angered when it was raining on them and one of the Mitioma district Woman Parliamentary hopefuls Dr Rosebelle Twinomujuni aka Etaara stood up and started asking for votes at a burial in Nyabwiina 2 cell, Igambiro parish, Katenga Sub – county in Mitooma district on Saturday 10th February 2024.
This was during the send off of the late Nuwasiima Allen 57, who passed away on Thursday this week due to longtime illness survived with a husband Byamukama Leonard and 4 children including 3 boys and 1 girl.
Twinomujuni Rosebelle who has always been rumored to be eyeing the Mitooma district Woman Parliamentary seat was present at the burial ceremony and could not hide her intentions of asking for votes which angered some of the mourners.
“You see I am here with you today but tomorrow I will be passing through too asking for votes so don’t ask who that person will be, it’s me and am here in front of you please support me, my brothers and sisters”, Dr. Rosebelle said.
It could not let the burial function go on as planned since the master of ceremonies first made a hold on the program and campaigned for Rosebelle which increased anger amongst the mourners who were standing in rain waiting for the burial to end so that they can return to their homes for other activities.
This website has always published news about such incidents and this happens not to be the first one but it looks like Ugandan politics remain stagnant especially to new comers who are always yawning for power and end up using all the tricks to grab it from the incumbent ones.
Some mourners including Atwikizeho Pathius from Igambiro talked to this website and showed his dissatisfaction with leaders who don’t respect burials.
“We have come for a burial, we are here in rain and someone is asking for votes no no no please, we are tired”, he said.

Another resident known as Nuwagaba Steven said leaders should always allow family members to talk about their deceased persons rather than those coming to campaign while others are grieving.

The Burial service was led by Catechist Birungi Celestine from Igambiro Catholic Church who implored mourners to love each other since they are all equal in front of God and should therefore work for a better eternal life.
Mitooma district boss Benon Karyeija aka Boneza also attended the send off ceremony and tasked men to always love their wives up to the last moment since God created women to be part of men and care for them.
The Katenga Sub County Chairman Nsasirwe Moses Burinda and Nyabwina 2 cell chairman Katsimbura John regretted the death of madam Allen since she has been a great pillar in the area and exemplary to the young generation since she loved shaping them for future.
