Murder rocks Kigezi as one suspect is stoned to death

The Police in Rubanda District have registered a double murder which occured at Kiriba village in Kagunga Parish in Bufundi Sub-county.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Nelson Tumushime has confirmed the incident and identified the victims as 54 year old man Arineitwe Prosper and 26 year old Ruhangariyo Osbert.

Tumushime told journalists in Kabale today that Arinaitwe was allegedly proceeding to his home from a nearby Trading centre, on the might of 28th July when he was ambushed by unknown assailants had trailed him and stoned him to death .

Tumushime explained that suspicious angry residents traced for a one Ruhangariyo Osbert, who had been having long family conflicts with the deceased, tied his hands with a rope, lynching him to death.

Its reported that after lynching him, the charged residents abandoned his body next to that of his uncle, Arineitwe Prosper alongside a village path.

When the Police in Rubanda District were notified, they swiftly responded and conveyed the two bodies to Kabale Regional Referal Hospital for postmortem examination before the bodies were handed over for burial.

Tumushime has since appealed to the residents to avoid mob justice and allow the law to take it’s course, and when necessary povide information that can help in apprehending the suspects.

He said that the Police encourage members of the Public to remain calm and avoid speculations which can jeopardize investigations andd the Police further assured the community and the affected families that all efforts are being made to bring the perpetrators to justice as investigations continue. 

Meanwhile the Police at Kabale Central Police Station has arrested a man identified as Byomuhangi Habert for alleged murderi of his biological mother in Kabale District.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Nelson Tumushime confirmed the incident and the deceased as 52 year old woman Kyarimpa Mary , 52 years old and a resident of Nyamabale Village in Bushuro Parish in Kitumba Sub-county in Kabale District. 

It is alleged that the suspect assaulted the biological mother within the same village which lead to her death untimely death and Police investigations are still ongoing.
