NEWS– Preparations are in high gear ahead of this week’s much-anticipated Mother and Child Mbarara free medical Camp organized by the Porunn Initiative Uganda at Kabahambi Church of Uganda in Ntungamo Municipality.
A day event which will open its doors on Friday 2nd February 2024 is expected to bridge the gap between healthcare and patients within the communities.
Speaking to the media, Arisiima Annah the managing director Porunn Initiative Uganda and chief organizer highlighted that there will be a free screening of common health conditions such as diabetes and their complications, hypertension, nutrition, child health, mothers and health benefits of Moringa tree among others.
Arisiima revealed that the free medical Camp serves as a cornerstone in health literacy campaigns dedicated to enlighten the masses and fostering awareness regarding early medical diagnosis and treatment.
She noted that the camp will target more than 500 people to be screened and treated and called upon the general public to come.
Arisiima also said that there will be the commissioning of Porunn Training Centre at Kanju I Ntungamo Municipality aimed at skilling young people (in school, out of school, young professionals and other community members) in soft skills that would be required for their daily lives.
Porunn Training Centre is a youth initiative and community based organization to accelerate commercial or home based activities that would ease the community development and income generation in young people.
It brings together entire young people with interest in job creation, community service and general fight against poverty through handcraft making deals in shoe making and repairing.
