Leaders from Lango Sub region have shown spotlight in major milestone achievements made in their area under the NRM government being majorly peace and security, prosperity and development at an event which took place today at Lango College Grounds in Lira City.
This developments are exhibited in aspects of health care, education and wealth creation initiatives which is why the electorate of the area have maintained momentum to vote President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM in its entirely.
The Chairperson of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s thanks giving and victory celebration committee for Lango Sub region who doubles as the Director General of the External Security Organization Ambassador Joseph Ocwet notes that President Museveni’s 2026 win is a shared victory for the area signifying the NRM outstanding contribution towards the socioeconomic transformation of the people of Lango.
Ambassador Ocwet recalled the dire suffering experienced by the people of Lango during previous regimes including instability caused by rebel groups like the LRA led by Joseph Konny and the Holly Spirit Rebel group led by Alice Lakwena that terrorized the sub region.
Leaders from Lango Sub region said that the progressive voting pattern for NRM by the electorate in that area is projected to exponentially grow due to vivid gains seen all over Lango Sub region
The Erute South Member of Parliament Elect Sam Engora read the NRM progressive voting pattern in Lango Sub region from 7% to currently 84% as per the 2026 polls results .
Lira City District Woman Member of Parliament who also the Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng highlighted the growing shift to development oriented Leadership by the people of Lira City and the entire Lango Sub demonstrated by the area electorate in the just concluded 2026 general elections
Minister Aceng also noted that Lira City voted for the NRM party by 84% as the entire Lango Sub region gave 80% average score to the NRM in the same 2026 polls affirming the people’s expression of confidence in the National Resistance Movement party steward by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni whom he described as visionary and extraordinary leader.
Minster Aceng listed 5 requests as resolved upon by the people of Lango Sub-region that include the establishment of an Industrial Park in the area, the construction of a regional Airport, direct support for cultural, religious and area bussiness communities and more political appointments.
Minister Aceng noted that the significant impact of wealth creation and socioeconomic transformation through the Parish Development Model Initiative, improved road infrastructure, elevated health services for critical specialities including cardiac and brain surgeries introduced at Lira Regional Referral Hospital and Dialysis services are among other top initiatives of great impact to the area.
Dr Aceng re-echoed to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni that Lango Sub region’s reignited cause to scale up coffee growing and called for strategic support interventions in that respect.
While speaking at the same event, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda Hon Dennis Hamson Obua quantified the NRM Party’s 2026 win saying that it is a true reflection of the party’s progressive impact to the region.
Hon Obua highlighted Lango Sub region voting pattern for the NRM in comparison to other regions and commended the area electorate and progressive opposition politicians who continue to entrust the NRM government with national leadership.
The very attentive President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni commended the unity exhibited by the people of Lango during the 2026 that was resoundingly won by the NRM party as he highlights 5 strategic areas to further development in Lango Sub region.
President Yoweri Museveni noted that unity as a driver for development and socioeconomic transformation is key for Uganda’s prosperity as cited for Lango Sub region.
The President directed leaders in Lango Sub region particularly Members of Parliament to lead engagement intended to scaleup reach for the Parish Development Model initiative with focus on pending beneficiaries.
President Museveni noted that the Parish Development Model Initiative has clocked its 5th year of implementation with Ugx 500 million disbursed to each parish so far and initial borrowers are expected to repay their loans amounting to Ugx 300 million that will grow their respective Parish Saccos to Ugx 800 million shillings
President Museveni says that next year PDM appropriation will be increased accordingly to reach more beneficiaries just as for Emyooga and has directed leaders to partake of efforts to ensure that remaining beneficiaries access funds from their respective PDM Saccos
The President announced new plans for distribution of free coffee seedlings and fruit trees in Lango Sub region to top up Parish Development Model wealth creation efforts in the area and also confirmed efforts to establish a coffee seedling nursery bed at Baralegi State Lodge farm and has advised the people of Lango to adequately prepare to benefit from the program.
He assured the people of Lango Sub region about the ongoing cattle restocking efforts for their area and confirmed plans to scale up more roads maintenance efforts in the area, but tasked area residents to stop compromising with corrupt leaders in the area.
He also assured the people of Lango that government is fast tracking broader markets for their products and rallied them to intensify productivity in wealth creation Sectors and responded to requests for medical assistance by Kore District accident victims.
