Rukungiri District Deputy Khadhi Sheikh Musilim Kiranda preaching at Kebisoni Mosque

Rukungiri District Khadhi Sheikh Abdulmalik Kayoole has called on Muslims to ensure that they start developmental projects in their homes and Mosques aimed at supporting the development of Islam in their communities.

Sheikh Kayoole massage was contained in the massage read yesterday to the Muslim faithful by Muzamil Kaggwa during the Eid-Alftir prayers at Kebisoni Mosque in Kebisoni Town Council in Rukungiri District.

He said that that the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Leadership in Rukungiri is undergoing transformation under the new leadership led by new Chairman Hajji Sowedi Munyefu who replaced Hajji Abdullah Bananuka who retired from Office and therefore the Muslim community need to work hard and ensure transformational development. 

While preaching at Kebisoni Mosque, the Deputy District Khadhi Sheikh Musilim Kiranda urged the Muslim community to remain faithful to their religion and live in harmony with their neighbours in order to contribute to development. 

Sheikh Kiranda emphasized the need for Muskims to live by the teaching of Islam and carefully follow what the Holy Book of Koran says as they have been doing during the month of Ramathan which brings about spiritual nourishment in their families and communities.

The newly elected District Chairman Hajji Sowedi Munyefu asked the Muslim to remain united and work together for the cause of Islamic development if the ir religion is to have 9mpact in society.

He thanked the families that have stood with firm for the development of Islam and asked others to emulate them saying that no one will come from outside to support the development in their areas and announced that starting March 29th 2026 he will start a District tour to familiarise himself with what is going on in the 34 Mosques across the District.

Chairman Munyefu lashed at domestic violence amongst Muslim families which he said has become a big challenge to the development of Islam and asked those involved to stop the practice and seek divine wisdom to learn how to live together.

Elesewhere in Kanungu District, the Khadhi Sheikh Abudallah Rajjabu Mpabuka, urged Muslims to continue embracing the spirit of sharing, unity, compassion and forgiveness demonstrated during the holy month of Ramadan.

He made the remarks today at Kihiihi Main Mosque in Kihiihi Town Council, Kanungu District, as Muslims joined others across Uganda and around the world in celebrating Eid-Alftir, making the end of the 30-day fasting.

Eid Al-Fitr celebrations began with special morning prayers followed by sermons, acts of charity, sharing meals, exchanging gifts and gathering with family, friends and neighbors in a spirit of togetherness and inclusivity.

In his message after prayers, Sheikh Abudallah Mpabuka encouraged believers to maintain the discipline, generosity and good conduct practices observed during Ramadan, emphasizing that these values should guide daily life beyond the holy month and called on all members of the community, especially the youth , to uphold moral responsibility, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

He also offered prayers for the continued peace and development of Uganda by appreciating the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for what he described as his continue support and guidance to the country and further encouraged citizens to remain law-abiding, God-fearing and committed to educating their children, noting that education is a key foundation for a better future.

Ahmed Jafali, the Imam of Kihiihi Main Mosque and the day’s main preacher, echoed similar sentiments urging Muslims to avoid harmful behaviors such as theft, and other social vices, reminding them that Ramadan is a period of transportation that should lead to lasting positive change.

He additionally appreciated the government for it’s support to Muslims, including contributions such as Iftar meals during Ramadan and encouraged continued cooperation between leaders and communities in promoting development initiatives like PDM, education, healthcare and infrastructure.
