NEWS- The Commissioner of Parliament Hon. Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi has revealed that her re-appointment to this position will help her to enhance service delivery, as well as exercise disciplinary control over Members of Parliament to enhance proper legislation.
Akampurira is among the three National Resistance Movement Members of Parliament whose term of office was renewed by the top leadership of the party and subsequently approved by members of Parliament yesterday.
Among other roles, parliamentary commissioners determine the allowances payable and privileges available to the Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Members of Parliament.
Speaking to our reporter today afternoon during a telephone interview, Hon Prosy Akampurira Begumisa Mbabazi said that the extension of her term of office as a commission will give her extra opportunity to lobby for the betterment of service delivery in the district citing at poverty eradication Programme in the district dubbed “Prosperous Women Rubanda” which idea she developed during her Parliamentary commission trips abroad.
Akampurira is among the ten members of the parliamentary commission for the 11th parliament including The Rt Hon. Speaker, Anita Annet Among, the Rt Hon. Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa, the Rt Hon. Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business, Robinah Nabbanja, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Matia Kasaija, Solomon Silwany, Esther Afoyochan, Mathias Mpuuga and the Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige Kasaija.
