NEWS– The NRM Deputy Secretary General Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko has urged youth leaders to channel all their energies into personal growth and in their economic well-being.
Hon Namayanja made the call yesterday while addressing a group of over 400 young leaders at Bukakala village, Semuto Sub-county in Nakaseke District where he emphasized that as future national leaders, they need to make choices today that will determine their destination.
“We are committed to providing you with the resources and expertise needed to launch small business enterprises and develop innovative ideas for sustainability,” Namayanja assured, reinforcing the government’s dedication to youth development.
Ms Namayanja said that the young leaders active participation in wealth creation is not just about improving their current situation, but it is about securing a prosperous future for themselves and the generations to come.
Hon Namayanja said the government is committed to empowering young people through livelihood initiatives like the Parish Development Model and Emyooga, with 30% of the funds set aside for the youth to utilize for investment. X
The Deputy Secretary General also called on the youth to unite and embrace government programs such as the PDM, Emyooga, and other livelihood initiatives as a way of uplifting their communities from poverty.
“Regardless of political affiliation or differences, these programs are designed to empower you. Use them to combat poverty and drive the change you wish to see in your communities,” She urged, calling for collective action towards national development.
The RDC Nakaseke district, Ms Rosemary Byabashaija reiterated that the government programs of fighting poverty are designed to uplift the most vulnerable Ugandans, particularly those living below the poverty line.
Ms Byabashaija cautioned against any form of extortion or unauthorized fees imposed on beneficiaries, asserting that every beneficiary is entitled to the full one million shillings as intended.
“I want to assure you that as a government, we take the issue of extortion of PDM funds very seriously,” Byabashaija said and added, “We have already made arrests, and thorough investigations will be conducted to ensure that those responsible are held accountable, thereby preserving the program’s integrity.”
The event concluded with youth testimonial from Nicholas Brain, a youth leader from Wakyato Parish, who expressed his gratitude to Namayanja for her leadership and unwavering commitment to youth empowerment. He encouraged his peers to heed the government’s message, stressing that their future lies in their own hands and their proactive engagement in national initiatives.
