NEWS- The Traffic Police in Kabale District have today November 2nd 2024 morning, arrested a driver and his conductor of motor vehicle registration number UBB 302E Toyota Noah which of recent went viral on social media on Katuna road.
Its reported that the vehicle was being driven dangerously loaded with its conductor seated beside the loaded property on top which was very dangerous to him.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that the driver, identified as Brian Akanyijuka and the conductor Kennedy Kyokwijuka were both charged with dangerous loading, carrying passengers in a manner that endangers their lives and carrying passengers without license.
While speaking to the media, Maate said that the Police got concerned and cannot tolerate the practice and the two will be arraigned before Court of Law upon completion of inquiries and answer charges accordingly.
Maate said that the Police acted to deter others who are intending to do the same from doing so, and warned that they will start making impromptu traffic road blocks to check the number of passengers seated in Taxis as the festive Christmas season draws near.
