NEWS– The territorial police of Rukiga have arrested two suspects and recovered two motor cycles which were stolen recently from Ariho Banner 35-year-old businessman and Mubangizi Innocent 45-year old businessman both residents of Muhanga Town council in Rukiga district.

ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesman identified the suspects as Baguma Brian 37-year-old businessman and resident of Luhonwa cell Muhanga Town council Rukiga district and Twinomujuni Joseph, a 38-year-old businessman, resident of Kirigime Cell North Division in Kabale Municipality.

Maate explains that on 28th October 2023 at around midday, Mubangizi Innocent reported a case of theft of his motorcycle reg. no. UEF 665V Bajaj boxer stolen from Modern Primary School compound where it had been parked and was reported under reference number SD ref 15/28/10/2023.

The Police PRO adds that upon investigations, a pupil from Modern primary school told them that he saw Baguma Brian picking it and that they thought he had been sent by the owner (Innocent).

Police with the help of the locals traced for Brian and established that he was working in a bar at Luhonwa trading centre, and after stealing the motorcycle he relocated to his home area in Kamwezi sub county where he was arrested with the said motorcycle.

The suspect then confessed while at Muhanga Police station to have stolen another motorcycle reg. no. UEJ 310Y from Nyeikunama Catholic church where the owner Ariho Banet had gone for Sunday prayers on 24th September 2023 and had reported the case at Muhanga Police station under reference number SD ref:10/24/09/2023.

Baguma Brian took Police to Kabale where he had sold the said motorcycle, it was recovered and brought back to Muhanga Police station for further management together with the suspect Joseph.

Maate confided to this reporter that inquiries are ongoing adding that upon completion, suspects will be arraigned before courts of law.

The case of theft and recovered stolen motorcycles has been registered at Muhanga Police station under reference numbers SD 15/28/10/2023 AND 10/24/09/2023 respectively.
