The Police in Kabale Municipality are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified male adult, whose body was yesterday discovered floating in river Rwabakazi in Omwibare cell in Rushaki Ward in Southern Division.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident and explained that information was received at Kabale Police Station from Tumwesigire Wilbroad the area LC 1 chairperson that they had discovered a body of an unknown person floating on river Rwabakazi where a report was made and investigations commenced.
The scene of crime was visited, processed and documented, statements were recorded from relevant witnesses and the body was found floating on the river and retrieved, but was found with no external injuries, and was conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Maate has since appealed to anyone with a missing person to visit the Kabale Hospital Mortuary so that it is identified and taken for a decent burial as investigations continue.
Meanwhile the Police in Kisoro District have registered a serious road accident involving motor vehicle registration number UBH 410Z and motorcycle registration number UFL 268P at Mudege village along Kisoro – Bunagana road.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists last evening that it is alleged that, the motor vehicle was from Kisoro side facing Bunagana and decided to make a U-turn at Mudege back to Kisoro and a speeding motorcycle rammed into it injuring the rider whose particulars are yet to be established..
Maate explained that the scene was visited yesterday immediately after the accident and documented and witnesses interviewed and the victim was rushed to Mutolere Mission Hospital.
The motor vehicle and motorcycle involved were towed and are parked at Kisoro Central Police Station pending Inspector of Vehicles inspection as investigations continue.
