Museveni addressing a rally at Wabinyonyi Playgrounds in Nakasongola District

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today May 22nd 2025, concluded the Parish Development Model assessment exercise of Greater Luwero where he shared success stories from different parts of the country and implored the people in attendance to join the wealth creation bandwagon.

The last rally that was attended by thousands of people was held at Wabinyonyi Playground in Nakasongola District where he said that the issue of organizing activities around the lake will be discussed in a meeting that is being scheduled with the original lake users to forge a way forward.

Earlier in the day, President Museveni commissioned Pura Organic Agro Tech Limited, a cassava processing factory along the way to Nakasongola.

The President noted that cassava starch production is vital for key sectors, including pharmaceuticals, which rely heavily on supplies and called upon Ugandan cassava out growers for seizing this opportunity and supply the factory.

President Museveni also encouraged local cassava processors to explore indigenous nutritious food varieties to add value.

“Medicines are expensive, largely due to our reliance on imported starch from India, so I’m pleased this factory will reduce costs,” President Museveni said.

He however, expressed disappointed at some people who are undermining the investments, including individuals vandalizing electricity poles and causing power outages.

President Museveni however promised that the challenges will be addressed in the near future.
