President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday met with government leaders and civil servants from the Greater Mukono sub-region, urging them to make effective use of the peace and stability secured under the NRM government to drive socio-economic transformation in their communities.
During the meeting with the leaders President Museveni emphasized that while many from less stable nations seek refuge in Uganda, Ugandans must capitalize on the development programs introduced to lift themselves out of poverty.
Earlier in the day, President Museveni officially commissioned the Mengo Zonal Presidential Industrial Hub located in Nazigo Town Councilb in Kayunga District.
The Industrial hub, which currently trains over 231 youths from 16 districts that make up the East Mengo Zone, aims to equip young people with hands-on vocational skills and immediately after the commissioning, the President proceeded to Mukono Boarding Primary School in Mukono Central Division in Mukono Municipality where he addressed a mega rally.

In his response, President Museveni pledged that the government would address all the concerns raised in the memorandum and reiterated the need for citizens to safeguard the peace and freedom restored by the NRM, noting that without these, development would not be possible.
“The NRM government has laid a firm foundation for socio-economic progress. It is now up to the people to fully participate and benefit from the peace and stability in place,” the President said.
He also added that Uganda remains a safe haven for many due to the freedom and security enjoyed under the NRM.

On the Education sector, the President revealed that the government’s current policy ensures that every parish has a primary school, and every sub-county has a secondary school.
He also promised the construction of the Kayunga–Galiraya road, emphasizing that many roads across the country have been upgraded, even up to national borders.
