NEWS– The Prime Minister Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja has underscored the importance of promoting patriotism in schools as a key ingredient in championing excellent and visionary leaders saying that their influence extends beyond the walls of the institutions, impacting communities and shape the leaders of tomorrow.

The Prime Minister made the remarks on Sunday afternoon while delivering a key note address to teachers incharge of patriotism undergoing a course at the Olive Tambo School of leadership and Pan African Centre of excellence Kaweweta in Nakaseke District.

According to Nabbanja, Uganda’s education curriculum must evolve to meet the needs of the 21st century that include integrating technology, promoting STEM education, and encouraging the development of soft skills such as communication and teamwork.

She also called for an inclusive curriculum that reflects the diversity of  society saying that the education system must be one that equips every child with the skills, knowledge and character needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world which needs creativity, critical thinking, and emotional resilience. 

According to the Commissioner of Patriotism Corps in the Office of the President, Ms Hellen Seku, the Secretariat aims at spreading patriotism not only in schools but also among civil servants and all Ugandans and  over 170 teachers in charge of patriotism are attending the course.

The ultimate goal of this program is to produce a new breed of enlightened citizens who are committed and devoted to the national cause willing to sacrifice for the country and also do away with bad practices like corruption.
