RUKUNGIRI– In a bid to support local agriculture and foster community development, Counsel Isaac Atukunda the Rukungiri Municipality hopeful legislator over the weekend donated maize grains to constituents, encouraging them to utilize the seeds for the upcoming planting season.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance food security and empower local farmers as well as assisting communities that were heavily hit by hailstorms in February and March 2025.

During the launch held in Nyaruharo cell, Eastern Division, the aspiring MP emphasized the importance of self-sufficiency in food production and highlighted the role of agriculture in economic stability.

“Investing in our farmers is investing in our future. I believe that through collaboration and support, we can uplift our community and ensure that no one goes hungry,” said Counsel Isaac Atukunda.

The donation event attracted a large crowd, with many constituents expressing gratitude for the support.

“This is a timely gesture that will help many of us who struggle to afford quality seeds,” said one local farmer. “We appreciate the commitment shown by the aspiring MP.”

In addition to the donation, the aspiring MP called for maturity in political discourse, urging constituents to engage in respectful and constructive dialogue.

“Our politics should be about the people, not personal vendettas. We must focus on issues that matter and work together for the common good,” added Counsel Isaac Atukunda.

As the planting season approaches, this initiative aims not only to provide immediate assistance but also to inspire a sense of community responsibility and collaboration among constituents.
