NEWS– The territorial police in Rukungiri are hunting for a motorcyclist who knocked dead a 45 year old Sikola, a resident of Kashenyi cell Kabwooma parish Nyakagyeme sub county Rukungiri district.
The accident according to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesperson occurred on Friday 13th September 2024 at about 1800 hours in Kagorogoro cell, Nyakagyeme sub county along the Rukungiri-Rwerere-Kanungu maruum road.
Maate adds that the motorcycle involved was reg no UGE 192Y Bajaj boxer red in colour whose rider not yet known because is on run and the two passengers who were on the aforementioned motorcycle are not yet known.
It’s alleged that the rider of the Bajaj carrying two passengers was coming from Kashenyi side heading to Rukungiri direction when the rider drifted from his side and knocked down the female victim who was heading in the opposite direction, killing her on the spot.
Maate told the press that the Police at Rukungiri were notified, visited and documented the scene, motorcycle taken to CPS Rukungiri pending IOV inspection and body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Centre III mortuary for postmortem examination.
