NEWS- The Police in Kabale district surrounding the death of a 30 year old businesswoman whose body was found rotting in a hotel room.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesman identified the deceased as Ahimbisibwe Grace, a business lady and a resident of central cell, central division, Kabale municipality in Kabale district.
Maate told the press that the case was reported by 56 year old Kadugara Fred, a businessman resident of Makanga cell, Butobere ward, central division Kabale Municipality.
According to the Police PRO, on Tuesday 30th January 2024 at around 5Pm, Kadugara went to Kabale Police station and reported a case of disappearance of one Grace who had been operating a bar next to his motor spare shop.
It’s alleged that Grace was last seen on 20th January 2024 at her bar and a casefile of disappearance was registered vide Kabale CPS under reference: 35/30/01/2024.
Maate adds that information received was that Grace residing at Agaba Motel building in room 40 and upon receipt of the information, Police detectives from homicide desk led by D/AIP Mugabe Derrick the regional soco and District soco DCPL Mubangizi.
At room 40 in the same building, Maate told the press that the officers were welcomed by a bad smell that was coming from the room and the door was locked/ intact.
The police had to break the door and found the keys inside the door lock and the body hanging, a piece of cloth in her neck. He added that when her room was searched, her documents showed that she is called Ahimbisibwe Grace.
The body was decomposing, scene of crime was documented and photographs taken and the body was then taken to Kabale regional referral mortuary pending postmortem examination.
Police suspects that it was a suicide case though investigations have already commenced to established the real cause of the death.
