KAMPALA- The Old Kampala Police Division has detained a formally Police officer who was dismissed  from the counter terrorism Directorate.

Assistant Commissioner of Police- ACP Rusoke Kituuma, the Police Spokesperson has identified the  suspect as the Police constable Isaac Ojoke-36 years,  who is detained on charges of impersonation.

His arrest followed complaints from motorcyclists around the Entebbe road , specifically around Katwe areas, about the officers who impound and release motorcycles for a pay of UGX50000 during morning and evening  rush hours daily.

This prompted the Old-Kampala  Police Division, arrested him in an intelligence-led operation at Queensway over the weekend.

Ojoke was dismissed by the disciplinary committee of Police on charges related to indiscipline offenses last year from the counter terrorism Directorate.

“After his dismissal, he never went home. So he decided to  go and fabricated a traffic police officer’s uniform, and started posing as a traffic officer to impersonate the motorcyclists.”Kituuma said.

Kituuma said he has done unlawful acts for a long time, and now he will face the serious consequences. In 2021 and 2022, police disciplinary committees dismissed over 100 officers due to various misconduct allegations, including impersonation, corruption, dereliction of duty, and indiscipline.

However, concerns arose that some dismissed officers return and collaborate with criminals.
