NTUNGAMO- The Police in Ntungamo district have impounded a Fuso fighter registration number UBN 394 X blue in color that was found full of Kazero Energy drink alcoholic Kumbucha manufactured in Uganda.
According to the Ntungamo District Police Commander Busheija Hannington Kanimi, the fuso that had long been tracked by using Police cameras from Kampala was finally intercepted at the one of fuel stations in Ntungamo Municipality last week for defaulting Uganda Revenue Authority taxes.
DPC Busheija noted that upon intercepting the fuso, it was full of boxes of Kazero Energy drink alcoholic Kumbucha which had no URA seals, a signal that it was being smuggled to be supplied in Kabale and Kisoro Districts without paying taxes.
He revealed that it will be forwarded to the URA customs for further management and the suspects to Revenue Intelligence for investigation.
Relatedly, the Police in Kabale district during a morning operation have arrested two suspects for alleged vandalism and theft of road furniture that were found ready handed with them.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesman identified the suspects as Nicholas Amanya 22 and Martin Ainamani, working at Sabena washing bay at Rwakaraba cell, Northern division of Kabale municipality.
The operation was on 13th November 2023 at around 10am conducted around Sabena washing bay and the suspects were arrested on intelligence tip off which they said, they cut them from the road with intent to sell them to the scrap dealers.
The operations of this nature will continue, to curb vandalism and theft of both road furniture and street light solar systems from the municipality.
The two and others in the racket yet to be arrested will be arraigned before courts of law according to Maate.
