NEWS- The hopeful Member of Parliament for Rushenyi County Jonan .A. Muhumuza says that he is agitated by the incumbent Members of Parliament who are barricading new contenders stressing that everyone has a right if they have the capacity to participate in politics of Uganda according to the constitution.

Muhumuza’s remarks came while addressing people of Rushenyi County who were gathered at Rubaare playground in Rubaare town council to witness the football final tournament he organized between seven five sub counties and two councils code-named “Muhumuza Cup”.

Rwentobo-Rwahi town council football club won the trophy after beating Kayonza football club in the final game.

Muhumuza further noted that he was annoyed by the information peeped in his ears that the incumbent Rushenyi MP was calling some of the National Resistance Movement supporters not to attend this tournament yet he is also a faithful supporter of the ruling party.

He also rallied for support in 2026 general elections and he is optimistic that when voted to power, he’s ready to rectify needling persistent challenges in Rushenyi County that continues to cripple its development.

Muhumuza added that joining politics is not creating hostility stressing that they should instead join hands as NRM to find the best way of implementing government programs that are intended to eradicate poverty among the Rushenyi electorate, which include Parish Development Model, Youths livelihood Fund, Emyooga among others.

The Mayor Rubaare town council Benson Kansiime said that such sports initiatives reduce boredom among the youths that would have resulted in habits of theft, drug abuse, alcoholism among others.

Kansiime added that it will help the youths to improve and discover their talents citing that some youths who are footballers and runners are enjoying their talents by earning money for their well being.
