The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier who was killed during a football match at St.Peter’s catholic Primary School playground in Kitumba ward, Kyaterekera town council,Kagadi district has been laid to rest, amidst calls for justice.
The deceased Akugizibwe Mbaali aka Omuhereza Tuhaise was shot dead by only Umalu a police officer attached to Kyaterekera Police post last Sunday during a football match final between Supper Lions FC and Lyanda FC at St.Peter’s catholic Primary School playground in Kitumba ward, Kyaterekera town council.
The suspect had developed an argument with the deceased over 2000Shs entrance fee.
Following the fatal shooting, the Albertine Police spokesperson SP Allan Julius Hakiza, confirmed that arrest of the suspect and a murder case was opened at Kagadi Central Police Station under the reference KGD CRB 152/2026.
The deceased was laid to rest last evening at his ancestral home in Kitumba A cell, Kyaterekera East ward in Kyaterekera town council.
Capt.Andrew Musheija Bindeba, the administrative officer 13th Infantry Battalion who presented the Ugandan army at the send off ceremony delivered condolences to the family.
He eulogised the deceased as a good, hard-working and disciplined officer whose self-less service will not only be missed by the bereaved family but also the entire nation.

Musisi Yosamu, the Lc3 chairperson Kyaterekera town council asked the bereaved family to remain calm, confirming to them that the suspect in the murder case was arrested and will be charged in court for justice to prevail.
He urges security agencies to regulate the carrying of guns during public gatherings to avoid such incidents.

The deceased’s father Omuhereza Kisembo says his son died at 32 years of age and has survived by 3 wives and four children. He urges government to look after the family as their only breadwinner is no more.
