Ntungamo district, partners move to scale up Pediatric TB screening and treatment

NEWS- The Ntungamo District Internal Security Officer (DISO) Afande Esau Nsimire has condemned the misuse of social media by young Ugandans to insult and spread hate speech.

While closing a two week digital access and literacy training funded by MTN Uganda foundation at Rap Tech Institute of Business and Technology in Nyamisha Village Western Division Ntungamo Municipality Friday, DISO Nsimire appealed to the young people to engage social media positively through online business and studying.

He said that social media has the potential of transforming society but unfortunately youth have misused it.

Nsimire hailed the director of Rap Tech Institute of Business and Technology Aijuka Rodgers for patterning with MTN Uganda foundation and Maendeleo Foundation to train youth in ICT skills which is government commitment to cascade its program of skilling Uganda.

MTN Uganda foundation representative Maseraka Jova asked the beneficiaries to use social media platforms to propel social-economic transformation in their communities.

Walusimbi John Chrysostom from Maendeleo Foundation based in Mukono District disclosed that their aim is to equip Ugandans with digital knowledge as the only way to beat unemployment in the country.

Walusimbi revealed that 31 districts including Ntungamo and 4800 youth have been trained across the country.

The Rap Tech Institute of Business and Technology Aijuka Rodgers challenged the trainees to use the acquired digital skills to start and own businesses for sustainable development rather than job seekers.

Aijuka commended the parents, students and development partners of MTN Uganda foundation and Maendeleo Foundation for considering Rap Tech Institute of Business and Technology.

One the beneficiaries Akansasira Shivan expressed happiness for attaining such digital skill training and pledged to use it for income generating ventures.

At least 99 youths trained were awarded certificates.
