The Police in Rukungiri District have arrested two people allegedly for the murder of a 28 year old man identified as Denis Atuhaire a resident of Kateramo village in Bugangari Sub County.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate identified the suspects as 29 year old Twesigomwe Brian a boda boda rider and 53 year old Kamusiime Justine both residents of Kateramo village, Bugangari Parish, Bugangari Sub County Rukungiri District.

It’s alleged that the deceased attended a party at the neighbor’s home of Alex Ngabirano and he was last seen during that party towards midnight while was alive as reported by the grandmother Tibivamunda Dinavence.

It’s is reported  that around midnight, the grandmother returned home and  found the behind door open and she saw him lying on bed facing down and she proceeded to her bed which is next room and slept until yesterday morning when she woke up and found deceased ‘s head shuttered, suspected blood stains spread on the beddings.

She informed the area Chairman Kubiriba Odomaro who advised her to report to the Police where the case was registered at Bugangari Police Station, the scene of crime visited, processed and documented and that’s when the two suspects were arrested to aid police with investigations.

The body was retrieved and conveyed to Bugangari Health Center IV Mortuary pending postmortem and the motive of the killing is not yet established as investigations continue. 

Meannwhile the Police in Rukungiri District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of two people respectively in Kicwamba Cell, Ibanda Parish in Nyarushanje Sub County.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate identified the deceased as 43 year old Kenema Dinavence and 41 year old Byamugisha John both resident of Kicwamba Cell, Ibanda Parish, Nyarushanje Sub County Rukungiri District.

It’s reported that Kenema Dinavence had just reached home from Nyarushanje where she had gone for burial and while resting in her compound, her neighbor Byamugisha John crossed the road with a panga and cut her several times on the head, neck, shoulder for an unknown motive and she died instantly. 

The suspect Byamugisha then went back to his house and when the area chairman looked for him and admitted to having killed her, he attempted to recover the suspected killer weapon and take him to the Police, he was overpowered by the local residents and was also killed on the spot.

The Police at Rubabo who responded after being notified also informed Rukungiri Central Police Station about the incidents and statements were recorded from key witnesses, postmortem was done at the crime scenes and the two bodies were handed over to their relatives for a decent burial as investigations continue.
