President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni held a meeting with CAF President Dr Patrice Mostepe

KAMPALA- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has held a meeting with the Confederation of African Cup (CAF) President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, who paid a courtesy visit at the State Lodge in Nakasero in Kampala.

The engagement was part of a two-day working visit to the three countries that will host the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship 2024 (“CHAN”) next year.

During their meeting, which was also attended by other Government officials that included the Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Annete Among and FUFA President Moses Magogo, Dr Motsepe thanked President Museveni for his role in promoting football development in Uganda and the East Africa region.

President Museveni thanked Dr Motsepe for his work in growing African football and assured him of his commitment to making CHAN, and the preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2027, a success.

Dr Motsepe was accompanied by Confederation of African Cup  4th Vice-President Seidou Mbombo Njoya, who is the reigning Chairperson of the CHAN Organising Committee.

During his visit to Uganda,  the CAF President visited the Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Namboole to see progress made in the preparations for CHAN and also visited training venues for teams.
