Uganda will tomorrow join the rest of the World to commemorate the International Women’s Day and the event will take place at Kololo Independence Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.

According to the Ministry of Gender and Social Development, this year’s celebrations will be held under the theme, “Scaling up Investment to Accelerate Access to Justice for all Women and Girls in Uganda”.

The Minister of Gender and Social Development Hon Betty Amongi told journalists that the national celebrations will be presided over by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as Chief Guest.

Minister Amongi said that the day provides an opportunity to reflect on progress made in advancing the rights, protection and empowerment of women and girls while strengthening national commitment to ensuring justice and equal opportunities for all.

The occasion will be spiced up by an all Women Parade from the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces, the Uganda Police Force, the Uganda Prisons Services and Uganda Wildlife Authority and Women Organisations.
