NEWS- Uganda has for the third time in a row has won an international investment award which was given to the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), which is responsible for promoting investment in the country was recognized as the “Runner-up for Best Investment Promotion Agency in Africa”.
The prestigious award went to Uganda Investment Authority for promoting and facilitating the private sector investors above her other counterparts on the continent.
The award was received at a colourful gala held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi and the gala event is part of a series of events taking place on the sidelines of a three-day Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Congress 2025) which is taking place from 7th to 9th April 2025.
The Annual Investment Meeting Global Awards 2025 Investment Awards aimed at recognising the best performing Investment Promotion Agencies across the global.
The 14th Edition Annual Imvestment Meeting is an initiative of the AIM Foundation, an independent international organisation committed to empower the world’s economy by boosting effective promotion strategies and facilitating opportunities for economic productivity and expansion.
This year’s Annual Investment Meeting congress is being held under the theme, “Mapping the Future of Global Investment: The New wave of a Globalized lnvestment Landscape – Towards a New Balanced world Structure”.
This year’s event has attracted decision makers, investors, experts, and academic figures from all over the world over 25,000 business players, conglomerates, business people representing 180 countries and 1,000 speakers.
The Ugandan Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Zaake Wanume Kibedi thanked the government of Uganda, the United Arab Emirates, the Uganda Investment Authority and the private sector for this joint concerted effort that made this achievement possible.
“We are participating in this global event to promote Uganda’s economic and commercial diplomacy,” Wanume Kibedi said.
Uganda’s participation at the Annual Investment Meeting 2025 is aimed at attracting Foreign Direct Investment to the country’s key economic sectors, increasing the private sector contribution to boosting sustainable development and increasing the GDP.
The Awards event was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the Private Sector Uganda (PSFU) Stephen Asiimwe and Uganda’s Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI) Stephen Kalibbala.
Uganda has won this award three times in a row in 2023, 2024 and now 2025 and Uganda Investment Authority has already submitted its bid for the next award with other agencies from other countries.
