Dr Chris Baryomunsi speaking at the launch of Tarehe Sita Activities in Kanungu district

The Minister of ICT and National Guidance Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi has today launched this year’s Tarehe Sita celebrations related activities in Kanungu Districts.

The launch began with tree planting at new Kihiihi Town Council offices where the Minister was accompanied by the Deputy RDC Gad Ahimbisibwe Rugaju, Assistant RDC Zepher Mugisha, the District Planner Atuheire Innocent and UPDF Maj Gen Edward Tweheyo among other dignitaries. 

Minister Baryomunsi said that President Yoweri Museveni is aware about the transformation of Kihiihi Town Council into a Municipality as was requested by district leadership as leaders, they will continue following it up.

Minister Baryomunsi also said that the government has already secured funds for the construction of Hamurwa – Kanungu and  Kihiihi – Katunguru roads.

The two roads are pillars and focal to enhance the development of tourism roads in Kigezi Sub Region that will connect the road network to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park nucleus is in Kanungu District.

The launch of Tarehe Sita activities were stimunelusly held in Kabale, Rukiga, Rubanda and Rukungiri  Districts, under the theme, “Defending the gains of the revolution and honouring the sacrifice of the freedom fighters: A call to national unity, peace and socio-economic transformation.”
